Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Learn Kannada — Survive BLR (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use this website and our Learn Kannada apps for iPhone, iPad and Android (together, the “Services”). We keep things simple: there are no accounts, you don’t have to give us your name or email, and we don’t sell your personal information.

What stays on your device

Your lessons progress, streak, favourites, settings and recordings of what you have practised are stored on your phone. They are not sent to us. Daily reminder notifications are scheduled on your device; we do not run a push-notification server.

Information the apps send

• Weekly league (optional). Nothing is sent until you tap Join. Then the app sends a random anonymous ID that your device generates, the nickname you choose (up to 20 characters), and your weekly XP and challenge count. These are stored on our server (hosted on Cloudflare), and your nickname, rank and XP are shown to other players on the weekly board. Please don’t use your real name or personal details as a nickname. League entries are deleted automatically after about 10 weeks.
• Translate. The Translate screen first looks in our built-in phrasebook and can translate offline on your device. When you press the Translate button, the English text you typed may be sent to Google (Gemini, through Firebase AI Logic) to produce Kannada. It is not linked to an account. Please don’t type personal or sensitive information into it.
• Purchases (iPhone and iPad). Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card or Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to confirm which Premium plan you own. It receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase and subscription status.
• Advertising. The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers (such as the advertising ID, where your device settings allow it) to show and measure ads. Users in the EEA and UK see a consent prompt first. Premium removes the ads.
• Update check. To tell you when a newer version is available, the app asks the App Store or Google Play for the latest version number. This contains no personal information.
• Older Android versions. Android versions before 3.0 also used Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to record anonymous usage events and crash reports.

Website

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and phrases are popular: pages visited, approximate region, device type and referring source, in anonymised form.
• Advertising. The website may show ads through Google AdSense, which uses cookies and device identifiers to show and measure ads.

Cookies & advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and learn more at how Google uses data. On your phone you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.

Third-party services

We rely on Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google AdMob, Google Firebase and Gemini, RevenueCat, Apple’s App Store, Google Play and Cloudflare. Each has its own privacy policy.

Your choices and deleting your data

• You can use the apps without joining the league, so no league data is ever sent.
• To remove your league entry before it expires, email us with the nickname you used and we will delete it.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play settings at any time.
• Uninstalling an app removes everything stored on your device.

Children

Our Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date will reflect any changes.
